Couples Therapy & Attachment

Anton Eastick - Meditation & Mindfullness
https://antoneasti-ck.com.au/work-with-anton/couples-therapy

Couples therapy emphasises understanding not just interpersonal dynamics but also the internal "buttons" and reactions within each individual. Our character, often shaped by early role models, influences how we relate in relationships. This therapeutic approach aims to foster respect, connection, and understanding by teaching couples to approach conflicts collaboratively, mend relationships through empathetic communication, and maintain respect. The goal is to transition from a "me" consciousness to a "we" consciousness, promoting a daily practice of mutual respect. Relationships naturally oscillate between harmony and disharmony and therapy provides tools to navigate these phases and foster a deeper, more respectful bond.

Iron John: A Book About Men" by Robert Bly looks into masculinity through the pre-Christian tale of Iron John, utilising Jungian psychology to explore the male maturation process. Bly critiques modern society's failure to provide positive masculine models and emphasises the necessity of embracing paternal values, such as limitation and authority. He argues for the importance of risk-taking and initiation by older men in the development of a self-actualised adult male, consisting of a community of beings including the King, Warrior, Lover, and Wild Man. Bly's work, central to the mythopoetic men's movement, highlights the need for a reevaluation of male identity, challenging modern perceptions of masculinity and advocating for a deeper understanding of the journey towards mature adulthood.
