August & September 2025 Newsletter
Hello,
Welcome to the August/September edition of the ITT Newsletter.
This winter brings exciting new developments at Integrated Trauma Therapy. As we continue to grow and evolve, I'm pleased to share that ITT is clarifying its mission and focus: to specialise in Somatic Experiencing approaches for trauma processing and to support both individuals and practitioners on their healing journeys. We are also expanding our team to meet growing demand, and we’re particularly interested in connecting with Art Therapists who are SE-trained or eager to focus their clinical work in this integrative space.
As always, our vision is to offer meaningful support, connection, and opportunities for professional and personal development through workshops, supervision, and creative expression.
Happy reading,
Tania

Participants of the Online supervision groups have been sharing the unique value they have gained by being part of this group.
The value of art making as a way of knowing and understanding continues to amaze practitioners. We can often forget it’s power and quality if we don’t engage in it ourselves which is easy enough when we are the ones offering to others in our work. Keep creative and making art for your wellbeing and nourishment.
No in person supervision groups are scheduled for this year, however if you are able to gather a group of practitioners and would like in person (minimum of 4) sessions at The Creative Continuum in Warrandyte, please let me know by emailing me at info@integratedtraumatherapy.com.au

Nourishment of clay
The Felt Sense of Contact and Connection
August 30th
Registration due Monday 25th August
This workshop will guide you through an exploration of clay and the felt sense (Peter Levin). This process aims to develop the felt sense of touch through the hands and to connect to deeper layers of you and your body. You will be led through a non-verbal mindful process, that will enable you to connect with the earthen, forgiving and yielding clay. You will be supported to find what touch, text, pressure, movement or holding feels nourishing and right for you at any given moment to slowly allow a 3D object to emerge. Reflection of the process will follow to integrate your experience.

Creative C is merging with ITT
We’re excited to announce that The Creative Continuum (CC) is merging with Integrated Trauma Therapy (ITT) later this month. This integration reflects our natural growth and the shared vision both spaces have long supported: to foster healing through creativity, connection, and body-based therapies.
As we consolidate these offerings under the ITT name, you’ll continue to see the same creative workshops, therapeutic art sessions, and group programs that have always made CC special—now with the added strength of ITT’s trauma-informed focus and Somatic Experiencing framework.
Whether you’re a long-time participant or new to our community, you can look forward to a unified platform offering accessible, integrative, and deeply supportive services.
Soon, The Creative Continuum (CC) website will be closed down and all relevant courses and workshops will be offered through the ITT website. We will update you once this transition is complete.
Warmly,
Tania

Why Support is Important
Supporting practitioners has always been a special interest of mine. Since training in Somatic Experiencing and incorporating it into my work, I’ve come to see how central support is to trauma recovery. So much of healing is about re-establishing a relationship with the parts of ourselves that trauma has fractured or pushed aside.
Trauma often works by compartmentalising aspects of our identity—our bodies, beliefs, emotions, even our memories. While this can be a protective mechanism in moments of crisis, it can leave us feeling fragmented or disconnected over time. What’s often missing in those traumatic moments is the presence of support. The absence of someone beside us, witnessing us, holding us, being with us.
Reintroducing waves of support into the healing process—whether through therapeutic relationships, peer connections, or group settings—can be profoundly reparative. Sometimes support comes in subtle forms: the feel of the chair beneath you, a grounding breath, a familiar object or image. In art therapy, supportive symbols can show up in surprising ways—through colour, materials, shapes, or archetypes. We often see clients finding strength in creating images of animals, mentors, or safe spaces.
Gathering in groups to support one another builds what Kathy Kain describes as a "matrix of support". I draw on this matrix every day: the teachers, mentors, colleagues, and communities who have shaped and upheld me and this network helps me hold others.
Support doesn’t always need to be big or dramatic. It can be simple and quiet. But when it’s present, life feels so much lighter. We feel less alone. And we remember that we’re part of something greater.
At ITT, support is a core value that underpins everything we do together. Whether in supervision groups, attending professional development, participating in a creative workshop, or receiving trauma therapy, my hope is that everyone will feel that sense of support—real, grounded, and sustaining.
